Technical leader of NPL’s research on electrochemical technologies:
- Working with SMEs and multi-nationals to solve product challenges and develop their next generation of technologies.
- Fundamental, exploratory scientific research. Published in leading journals.
- Developing technologies from TRL 0 to TRL6.
- Advising on best practice for measuring the performance and durability of emerging technologies. Representing the UK during standardisation (ISO/IEC).
Management of hydrogen technology research team:
- Responsible for delivery of ca. £2.5M p.a. in research activities relating to hyrogen electrolysers and fuel cells to time, cost, and quality.
- Line management responsibility for professional scientists including recruitment, professional development.
- Responsible for budget, sales pipeline, laboratory infrastructure, HSES, and quality compliance.
Strategy development and stakeholder management:
- Work across NPL and externally to influence and develop NPL’s strategies in this area, inluding providing technical leadership to NPL’s hydrogen stragety.
- Provide strategic and technical advice to stakeholders including policy makers, industrialists, academics and national programmes.
- Represent NPL in national and international fora, including invited presentations, publications, conferences, peer-reviewing.
- Convene events including: an annual Hydrogen Industrial Advisory Group comprising 50+ representatives of UK’s hydrogen sector and an alkaline electrolyser symposium to coordinate academia and industry.
